Association information

The American Association of Geographers (AAG) is a non-profit scientific and educational society uniting members of the global geographic community. Representing the profession of geography, the AAG provides resources, events and meetings for students, educators, practitioners, and partners within the discipline. The AAG advances education across a wide range of fields, including political geography, environmental geography, spatial statistics, geography of health, socio-ecological transformation, and more.

The AAG has 75 speciality and affinity groups, which allow members to network within particular areas of interest. The Africa Speciality Group aims to enhance geographic research and support geographic education in Africa.

Members of the Africa Speciality Group receive a complimentary online subscription to the group’s journal, African Geographical Review. Membership of a Speciality Group requires an AAG membership, which also grants unlimited online access to AAG’s four journals:
