Aims and scope

Applied Operations and Analytics  (AOA)  is a new fully Open Access and cross-disciplinary forum publishing peer-reviewed research that uses both qualitative and quantitative methods to analyse and synthesize data to gain insights that allow for better decision making, comprehension of complex systems, and solutions to challenging problems.

Our scope encompasses a wide range of research types, including multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary investigations, replication studies, findings of negative or null results, comprehensive literature reviews, and case studies.

Submissions are welcome from both academia and industry, and from all application areas.

The journal encourages authors to consider real-world and general applicability in their writing. Submissions should be well-written and clear in their contribution.

Peer Review
Applied Operations and Analytics assesses research based on technical correctness, clarity and adherence to research and publication ethics best practice.

To give authors a timely turnaround, a decision of ‘conditional accept’ or ‘reject’ will be made after one round of review. Authors that are given a ‘conditional accept’ decision are expected to give a point-by-point response to the reviewer and editor comments, including details of improvements made or a rebuttal, where appropriate.

We expect the review process to be constructive and professional.

As we wish for every community to be heard by their peers, the journal is organised into departments, headed by a Department Editor and a team of Topic Editors.

All submitted manuscripts are subject to an initial appraisal by either the Department Editor or a Topic Editor. If found suitable for further consideration, manuscripts will undergo double-anonymous peer review by at least two independent, expert referees.
