Society information

Biodiversity Conservancy International (BCI) is a charitable, not-for-profit organisation registered in Canada, working to conserve and protect species, habitats and ecosystems worldwide. One of the prime missions at BCI is to augment knowledge of living organisms on Earth and promote a society that lives sustainably, in harmony with the living and non-living components of ecosystems.

BCI has partnered with a host of international organisations such as IUCN, UNEP-WCMC, CBD Secretariat, International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) and the World Bank. BCI has conducted international workshops on the vital relationship between species diversity in the natural world and human health, community educational workshops on the nature and value of biodiversity, and produced publications designed to educate the public of concerned citizens, as well as high school and university level students, regarding the status of biodiversity on Earth today. BCI has also initiated on-the-ground ecosystem restoration projects both in Canada and abroad, including the Ottawa Sand Dune Restoration Project (OSDRP) and the Ecosystem Restoration Project in Quang Tri Province in Vietnam.

The journal Biodiversity is the flagship publication of BCI, designed as a publishing venue for biodiversity-research scientists both in the developed world and in the Global South. Biodiversity is an international, peer-reviewed journal published quarterly. Special features also bring value to a readership of conservationists, policy-makers, scholars and concerned citizens.

Membership is free-of-charge and we have an active team of volunteers if you would like to participate. Donations are welcomed. For more information about membership in Biodiversity Conservancy International:
