Notes
1 Food stamps are a type of grain purchase voucher issued by China during specific economic periods from the 1950s to the 1990s. Due to the extreme shortage of supplies, food cannot be openly supplied. Therefore, food stamps must be used to purchase food.
2 In 2006, Professor He Huili of China Agricultural University established the ‘Rice Selling Leading Group’ in Beijing to promote the sale of pollution-free rice in Lankao County, Henan. This incident has become a landmark event in China based on fair trade in food, increasing urban consumers’ understanding of ‘agriculture, rural areas and farmers’ issues, rebuilding basic trust between urban and rural areas, and promoting the integrated development of urban and rural areas.
