Abstract
A new species of Uroctea Dufour, 1820 is described from the Lut desert, Iran, based on the male. The species is close to the Uroctea grossa complex, but morphologically very distinct from all of its congeners by having only one branch of the median apophysis.

I would like to thank Christine Rollard for giving me the opportunity to study the spider collection of the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle, Paris. The manuscript benefited a lot from the valuable comments and recommendations of Alireza Zamani (University of Turku, Finland) and an anonymous reviewer.
