ABSTRACT
This study aims to evaluate the success of various seismic input energy spectra equations in capturing the energy content of the ground motion records of the Türkiye earthquakes since the acceleration response spectra of some records exceeded the design spectra. Although most existing spectra had limited success, especially near the corner period, some recent equations yielded accurate results. Based on the obtained results, it is envisaged that the energy-based seismic design concept will have the maturity to be included in the next-generation seismic design codes as a reliable alternative to the current approaches.
