ABSTRACT

The World Socialism Forum, sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), is an important international forum held regularly since 2004. Centered on the latest situations and changes in China and the world, the forum has attracted increasing attention both inside and outside China. The 13th World Socialism Forum was held in Beijing on November 28–29, 2023, with more than 180 leaders of communist parties, left-wing scholars, and social activists from 37 countries on six continents in attendance. Addressing the theme of “Building a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity and the Development of World Socialism,” the participants discussed the significance of the concept of a community with a shared future for humanity and related questions, speaking highly of the achievements of the Chinese path to modernization and its exemplary role for developing countries. They also analyzed the profound crisis of present-day capitalism and the alternative prospects for socialism, while pointing out that as the world enters a new period of turbulence and transformation, and faces the challenges of hegemonism and power politics, the future of mankind lies in building a community with a shared future for humanity. This task requires the solidarity and cooperation of socialist forces around the world.
