Abstract
In this manuscript, we provide an overview of the intersectional clinical needs inherent to African-American lesbian, gay, or bisexual (LGB) clients. A review of systemic issues faced by LGB African-American clients is the foundation of our proposed integration. We then provide a rationale for the use of humanism integrated with relational cultural theory (RCT) with these clients based on previous research and the complementarity of these theories. Next, the processes of our proposed framework are described, and examples of interventions are provided. Finally, we discuss implications for counselor education as well as strengths and limitations of theoretical integration.
