, , , &
Pages 125-142 | Published online: 01 May 2024

Abstract

This study employed narrative inquiry and a quare theory theoretical framework to investigate how six Black same-gender loving (SGL) male couples navigate romantic relationships and what contributes to their relationship resilience and longevity. With the use of thematic analysis, three overarching themes emerged for storytellers, including Black queer identity development, meaning making of SGL relationship, and tools for resiliency. Implications of this study highlight a need to intentionally create space for narratives of Black male SGL romantic couples in counseling practice, counselor education, and research.
