Special Issue Introduction

Editor-in-Chief’s Note

Welcome to issue 18 (2) of the Journal of LGBTQ Issues in Counseling. This issue is the first of a two-part series focusing on the diversity within LGBTQ + communities, and focuses on the intersectionality of counseling experiences with LGBTQ + BIPOC adults. Our guest editor for issue 18 (2) is Tamekia Bell, past-president of the Society for Sexual, Affectional, Intersex, and Gender Expansive Identities in Counseling (SAIGE) and assistant professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Dr. Bell’s research and scholarship focuses on intersectional diversity and advocacy in counseling and counselor education, including best practices in counselor allyship with and on behalf of marginalized populations. We hope that you find this collection of articles informative and challenging in terms of application to your own counseling work. I thank Dr. Bell for her time, passion, and attention in helping to craft this important issue of our journal.
