A new chapter in chemistry

The rapid expansion of science throughout Asia has led to a good problem—the inundation of journals with top notch discoveries but not enough bandwidth by existing journals to handle this growth. Thus, the need has been created for a new broad scope chemistry journal that encompasses all areas of the field.

I became interested in the opportunity to help guide the creation of a journal that accomplishes this for several reasons. First, it provides me with the prospect of helping to promote all areas of chemistry. I have always been passionate about each of the subfields of the discipline and scientific inquiry in all forms more broadly. Second, some of the general scope journals seemed to be tailored to whatever was fashionable in chemistry at the time. I am excited to lead this journal as I believe open dissemination of chemical research is essential for equitable and innovating advancement, whether negative results, replication studies, or cutting-edge research.

We are proud to introduce Essential Chem to fulfill this role. We have built an editorial team with diverse areas of expertise and strong passions for their focus areas in chemistry that are guided by a similarly diverse and expert advisory board. It has been an informative adventure watching the journal evolve from a concept to one that is now accepting submissions.

The core of all science is rapid and accurate dissemination of new measurements, methods, and theoretical models. As the founding Editor-in-Chief of Essential Chem, my primary role will be ensuring a fair and unbiased review process and an efficient submission to publication experience. Taylor & Francis has the necessary infrastructure in scientific publishing to make this a reality.

To assist with the launching of Essential Chem, article publishing charges (APCs) will be waived through the end of 2024.

We look forward to helping you promote your chemical discoveries.
