Abstract

A goal-oriented (GO) problem solving model is introduced as pedagogical process to teach content and content application. The GO model blends previous theoretical work in family science and family economics. Its application in the classroom is based on pedagogical theories. Field testing of the use of the GO model in undergraduate classrooms is provided. Preliminary findings suggest that students who understood the GO model are able to make applications from the GO model to real life problems. Additional teaching methodologies are suggested.
