Journal overview

The Journal of Child and Adolescent Counseling (JCAC) is a publication of the Association for Child and Adolescent Counseling, a division of the American Counseling Association. The goal of JCAC is to provide a professional forum for the dissemination of research, theoretical, and clinical literature related to the counseling and mental health of infants, children, and adolescents. JCAC seeks to promote the awareness of issues related to the counseling of children and adolescents among counseling practitioners, educators, and students. JCAC focuses on the practice of counseling children and adolescents by providing a developmental perspective on the improvement of prevention and intervention mental health services for children from birth through age 18. JCAC also encourages the exploration of issues related to counseling caretakers such as parents, teachers, and other primary caregivers who contribute to the mental health of children and adolescents.
