About the Society for Ming Studies (SMS)

The Society for Ming Studies is a scholarly organization that promotes the study of the Ming dynasty (1368–1644). It publishes a journal and a book series, as well as sponsoring panels on Ming topics at the annual meeting of the Association for Asian Studies.

Focusing on the understanding of the Ming dynasty, the Society is dedicated to supporting the publication of scholarly work relating to the study of Ming China, and to facilitating global communication among scholars and students of Ming China.

The Society is affiliated with the Association for Asian Studies (AAS) and the China and Inner Asia Council (CIAC) of the AAS.
