Experiences of Social Worker Working in the Field of Migration regarding the Problems and Work Motivations: A Qualitative Study in Türkiye

Abstract

The aim of this research is to explore the experiences of social workers working in the field of migration, regarding their problems and work motivations, from their own perspectives. The study group of the research, which was conducted with a phenomenological approach in a qualitative pattern, consists of twelve social workers. Data were obtained through in-depth semi-structured interviews using a semi-structured interview form. Descriptive analysis was used to interpret the data. Analysis of the data revealed, seven themes emerged: ethical violations, restriction of personal rights, inadequacy of legislation and laws, problems of adaptation between different disciplines, lack of managerial support, high workload and language problems. The results of the study, suggestions for education, personal rights, legal regulations, policies and local governments are presented. The themes that come to the fore in the study will create a framework for studies to be carried out in this field.
