Jeanell Carrigan

Dr Jeanell Carrigan is currently an Associate Professor in the Collaborative Piano Unit at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Australia. She has performed throughout Australia and Europe as a soloist, chamber musician, and collaborative duo partner. Her area of research is Australian solo piano repertoire and, more recently, the piano music composed by early twentieth-century Australian women composers. In May 2023 she released her thirty-fourth CD of Australian solo piano and chamber works. Her publications include several books—Post-1970 Australian Piano Music (Australian Music Centre Ltd, 1997)), Australian Piano Music of the last Twenty-Five Years (Australian Music Centre Ltd, 2006), Composing Against the Tide (Wirripang, 2016), A Musical Missionary. The Life and Music of Dulcie Holland, co-authored with Dr Rita Crews OAM (Wirripang, 2020), Australian Piano Music 1850–1950: A Guide to the Composers and Repertoire (Wirripang, 2021), The Music of Meta Overman. Queen of Colour and Fantasy (Wirripang, 2021), and Breaking the Drought. Roy Agnew: Composer, Pianist, Teacher, co-authored with Dr Rita Crews OAM (Wirripang, 2022)—and more than eighty critical editions of piano and chamber music written by Australian women and published by Wirripang, Australia.
