Abstract

The following is a summary of the National Research Council/National Academy of Sciences report entitled Permissible Exposure Levels for Selected Military Fuel Vapors. That report was prepared in response to a request from the U.S. Navy to review the toxicity data on two jet-propulsion (JP) fuels JP-5 and JP-8 and diesel fuel marine (DFM), and determine the scientific validity of the Navy's proposed 8-h permissible exposure limits (PELs) and 15- min short-term exposure limits (STELs) for all three fuels. The report was prepared by the National Research Council Subcommittee on Permissible Exposure Levels for Military Fuels. The roster of the subcommittee is as follows. SUBCOMMITTEE ON PERMISSIBLE EXPOSURE LEVELS FOR MILITARY FUELS Rogene F. Henderson (Chair), Lovelace Biomedical and Environmental Research Institute, Albuquerque, NM, USA Dean E.
