Abstract
We report a 32-year-old white male with nephroblastoma induced erythrocytosis. Serum erythropoietin levels were elevated preoperatively and normalized after surgical eradication of the renal mass causing the complete disappearance of the erythrocytosis. The erythropoietic hormone was demonstrated in the neoplastic mass confirming the nephroblastoma as the site of hormone synthesis. After surgery, the patient underwent a course of chemotherapy with actinomycin D (AMD) and vincristine (VCR) and is currently free of disease.
