Notes
1 See the review by John Dooley (Dooley Citation2022).
2 The character Osla Kendall is based on Osla Benning. The character Beth Finch is partially based on Mavis Lever. The traitor Giles Talbot is loosely based on the presence of John Cairncross at Bletchley Park. Harry Zarb is partially based on Keith Batey. Margaret Rock, Alastair Denniston, Edward Travis, Asa Briggs, Ian Fleming, Alan Turing, and Alfred Dillwyn (Dilly) Knox all appear in both The Rose Code and 100 People. Those who enjoyed The Rose Code should consider reading codebreaker Sarah Baring’s witty memoir The Road to Station X (Baring Citation2000). Baring was a friend of Osla Benning, and the Osla Kendall character and some of the incidents in The Rose Code come from Baring’s memoir.
