Abstract
In this work, multi-tone modulated reactance surfaces (MRSs) are investigated from an accurate point of view. It is supposed that a period of surface is composed of several modulation indices. A theoretical study is conducted based on Floquet’s theorem in order to investigate the propagation characteristics of the wave guided by modulated surfaces. Using a field matching technique, an appropriate initial value is recommended for the fundamental wavenumber to significantly enhance the solution of dispersion relation. Then, rigorous results are obtained for both two- and three-tone MRSs in comparison to the single-tone modulated case. To better explain interesting phenomenon, Band gaps, space harmonics’ amplitude, and extra stopbands are described in details.
