An improved methodology to prepare ( S )-2,3- O -cyclohexylideneglyceraldehyde is described. Starting from the commercially available ( L )-cyclohexylidene protected ascorbic acid the enantiomerically pure aldehyde was synthesized in only two steps in 41% overall yield. chemeqn1.jpg
