Retracted Article: Effect of Interfacial Roughness on Mechanical and Thermo-Acoustic Behavior of Corn Husk Fiber

We, the Editor and Publisher of the Journal of Natural Fibers, have retracted the following article:

Priyanka P. Singh & G. Nath (2023) Effect of Interfacial Roughness on Mechanical and Thermo-Acoustic Behavior of Corn Husk Fiber, Journal of Natural Fibers, 20:1, DOI: 10.1080/15440478.2022.2134259

Following publication, concerns were raised regarding the duplication of text, data, and images from this article with content from an earlier publication from the same authors:

  • Priyanka Priyadarsini Singh and Ganeswar Nath, ‘Development of Sustainable Thermo Acoustic Material from Residual Organic Wastes’, Journal of Scientific & Industrial Research, Vol. 81, March 2022, pp. 215-225, DOI: 10.56042/jsir.v81i03.55920

  • Priyanka P. Singh, G. Nath, ‘Ultrasonic processing of effective graded acoustic material’, Materials Today, Vol 62, 2022, pp.5992-5996, https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S2214785322032229?via%3Dihub

More specifically,

  • In addition to the overlap of text and data, Figures 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 10 have been duplicated with Figures 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 from Singh & Nath, 81:215-225 (2022) and Figures 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 from Singh & Nath, 62:5992-5996 (2022), respectively.

The authors were cooperative but were unable to provide a sufficient explanation for the duplication of content from this article with that of their previous publications. As verifying the validity of published work is core to the integrity of the scholarly record, we, the Editors and Publisher, have retracted the article and the authors have been notified of this.

We have been informed in our decision-making by our editorial policies and COPE guidelines.

The retracted article will remain online to maintain the scholarly record, but it will be digitally watermarked on each page as “Retracted”.
