Abstract

There is lack of review exploring holistic subacute aphasia management in the existing literature. This paper investigated current evidence-based intervention for individuals with subacute aphasia in the last decade to identify gaps and to guide future research on subacute aphasia. A scoping review following PRISMA-ScR was conducted across four databases. Literature published between 2011 and 2022 were identified and extracted. Twenty-three articles were analyzed following the A-FROM model. Study design, intervention protocol, and outcomes were tabulated. The findings warrant future research focusing on the integration of rTMS with other components of A-FORM, bilingualism, timing of treatment initiation, and interactional effect of cortical lesion.
