Forests, Wildfires and Climate Change
Wildfires are a basic component of forest ecosystems and one of the important drivers in forest stand dynamics. Wildfires are primarily affected by climate and vegetation. Fire regime is closely related to climate and weather pattern. Climate change is prevalent these days, altering weather pattern, wildfire characteristics and forests. For this reason a climate-inclusive approach is indispensable in wildfire and forest research.
This collection covers diverse aspects of recent findings and research on wildfire and forests under climate change, including ecological research and findings. Examples include changes in wildfire characteristics, effects of wildfire on forest ecosystems and their interaction under climate change, and post-fire changes; recent techniques for wildfire prediction, modelling and management; wildfire management and policy; and post-fire forest restoration.
