Journal overview

Editorial board
Feminist Translation Studies is a peer-reviewed international journal that provides an interdisciplinary and transnational forum for critical analysis and constructive debate about all research themes connected with feminisms, gender and translation and interpreting. As such, the journal intends to become a reference point for scholars working in the very dynamic and now quite established field of feminist translation studies.

The journal publishes papers that advance intersectional feminist perspectives within the discipline of translation and interpreting studies, including queer studies, race studies, decolonial studies and ecocriticism, among others. Additionally, it encourages research articles on both emerging and established topics to contribute to the ongoing epistemological expansion of the field.

Feminist Translation Studies welcomes interdisciplinary studies that aim to facilitate discussions about the social, political and ethical role of translation/interpreting and translators/interpreters as enablers of cross-border feminist activisms. By focusing on a range of geopolitical contexts, language combinations and academic cultures, the journal showcases the diverse range of interests and pursuits within this field and addresses activism within, between and beyond the so-called Global North and Global South.

In an effort to foster productive and innovative interdisciplinary dialogues, it is expected that the articles published in this journal actively engage with existing literature, thereby exploring fresh avenues and directions for further research.

Research articles

Feminist Translation Studies invites submissions of theoretical research articles by scholars, empirical papers by translation/interpreting practitioners and feminist activists, as well as pedagogic studies by translator/interpreter trainers. Manuscripts should appeal to a worldwide readership.

All manuscripts are initially reviewed by the editors; if found suitable for further consideration, they are subject to peer review by independent, anonymous expert referees. All peer review is double-blind and submission is online via ScholarOne Manuscripts.

Feminist Translation Studies is published twice a year. The language of publication is English although the issues discussed may involve all language combinations. Research articles will be 6000-7000 words in length (including notes and references). Submissions should be written in standard academic English and follow the style guide of the journal.

Authors can choose to publish gold open access in this journal.

Read the Instructions for Authors for information on how to submit your article.
