Over four decades,
Urban Geography has been at the forefront of urban scholarship. As the urbanization of our planet has deepened and extended, and as some of the older assumptions over the geographies of urban theory generation have been questioned, so the intellectual remit of the journal has evolved and expanded. This is reflected in the work we publish and in the editors of the journal.
An international, peer reviewed journal, publishing high-quality, innovative and original empirical, methodological and theoretical research,
Urban Geography remains first and foremost a geography journal but has a track record of publishing work from across the social sciences. The Editors of the journal encourage authors to think of the journal for their contributions to understanding the current and future global urban condition.
This journal accepts contributions towards the following sections: Articles, Book Reviews, Critical Reviews, Debates and Interventions and Urban Pulse.

Regardless of the section to which you are submitting your contribution, we ask you familiarize yourself with the work published in Urban Geography. Our scope does not extend to econometrics, remote sensing or quantitative modelling, nor do we publish applied case studies. Rather, the journal publishes those papers that clearly set out their conceptual and methodological contributions, engaging with and furthering an aspect of urban geographical scholarship.
Peer Review Statement
All submitted manuscripts are subject to initial appraisal by the Editor, and, if found suitable for further consideration, to peer review by independent, anonymous expert referees. All peer review is double anonymized and submission is via the online Submission Portal. Please read the Instruction for Authors before submitting a manuscript to the journal.
