Journal overview

Editorial board

Pure metals and metal-based materials form the backbone of engineering and biomedical sectors in context of end products. In terms of properties, they bridge the gap between that of polymers and ceramics and hence have created a niche for themselves over many centuries. In view of the tremendous importance and potential of metal-based materials, this journal attempts to bring forth the recent developments and innovations to all materials where pure metals, alloys or their composites play the key role in defining the properties of interest or as required by end application(s). Accordingly, topics of interest (not limited to) will be as follows:

  • Innovation in green technologies for extraction of metals.
  • Development of new alloys, metal matrix composites and multicomponent alloys.
  • Innovation in primary processing (such as liquid, solid, and two-phase methods) and secondary processing (such as rolling, extrusion, and forging) methods.
  • Progress in severe plastic deformation methods and their use in enhancing properties.
  • Advances in microstructural characterization techniques.
  • Insights and improvement in properties such as physical, thermal, mechanical, high temperature and tribological response.
  • Numerical simulation and atomistic modelling related to processing, alloys development and properties prediction.
  • Corrosion characteristics of new materials and protection methods.
  • Progress in joining of metal-based materials including composites.
  • Progress in machining of metal-based materials.
  • Recycling of metal-based materials for environmental conservation.
  • Emerging applications of metal-based materials.
  • Case studies of qualification of metallic materials for applications.
  • Case studies on failure of metallic materials.
  • Additive Manufacturing of Metallic Materials
  • Development of Biomedical Metallic Materials
  • Smart Metallic Materials such as Shape Memory of Magnetic Alloys
