The Community College Journal of Research and Practice (CCJRP) is a peer-review journal that promotes and disseminates an increased awareness of community college issues.

The journal began as the Community Junior College Research Quarterly in 1976 and changed to Community Junior College Research Quarterly of Research and Practice in 1981. The present title was assumed in 1993.

The CCJRP, a multidisciplinary forum for researchers and practitioners in higher education, aims to increase awareness and address all aspects of the study of community college issues through research, empirically tested educational innovations, and scholarly discussions.

Topics of interest to the journal include, but are not limited to:

  • Community college administration
  • Community college curriculum
  • Developmental education
  • Community college faculty
  • International perspectives about community colleges
  • Community college leadership
  • Community college policy
  • Research about community colleges
  • Student affairs
  • Community college students

The journal publishes original manuscripts in the following categories: full-length scholarship and research, succinct Briefs, book reviews and special issues. Submissions should not only be rigorous and reflexive methodologically, but also offer original insights to national, international, and global community college issues and perspectives. Papers should conclude with a section with implications for practice and/or research and recommendations.

All papers undergo a double anonymized rigorous peer review process which includes initial editor screening and anonymized refereeing by at least two anonymous referees.

Authors can choose to publish gold open access in this journal.
