Mark H. Maier, Professor of Economics at Glendale Community College (California), is a former lead Carnegie Scholar at the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. He has been Principal Investigator or co-PI for seven National Science Foundation projects including Supporting Community College Faculty Across the Disciplines and Starting Point: Teaching and Learning Economics. He is author of City Unions; Managing Discontent in New York City, co-author of The Data Game: Controversies in Social Science Statistics and Introducing Economics: A Critical Guide for Teaching, co-editor of Just-in-time Teaching: Across the Disciplines; Across the Academy, and a forthcoming volume on professional association support for community college faculty.

Neil Haave is a Professor (Biology) at the Augustana Campus of the University of Alberta (UofA) where he has served as chair of the Science Department and associate director of the Centre for Teaching and Learning. He was editor of Collected Essays on Learning and Teaching and chair of the Teaching Professor Conference Advisory Board. His scholarship of teaching and learning has considered e-portfolios, learning philosophies, undergraduate research, and active learning.
