Society information

The South Asian Literary Association, or SALA, promotes knowledge of, and scholarly interest in, the languages, cultures, and literatures of South Asia and the South Asian diaspora.

SALA is an Allied Organization of the Modern Language Association, and holds its annual meeting concurrently at the MLA Convention host city.

SALA membership includes a year’s subscription to the refereed journal South Asian Review (SAR) as well as the SALA Newsletter, which carries announcements of SALA's two MLA sessions, scholarly activities and accomplishments of its members, new titles in the field, and other valuable information for those interested in South Asian studies. $5.00 of each membership for Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor goes toward SALA’s Graduate Student Fund, which helps support graduate student travel to the annual conference.
