British Phycological Society
The British Phycological Society, founded in 1952, aims to promote all aspects of the study of algae. The main activities at present sponsored by the society are:
(a) the organization of scientific meetings;
(b) publication of the European Journal of Phycology;
(c) publication of the fully Open Access journal Applied Phycology;
(d) publication of a new flora of the British marine algae, Seaweeds of the British Isles .

The Society also circulates to members a newsletter, The Phycologist .
