Patrick Washburn

Patrick Washburn, who received his doctorate in mass communication from Indiana University, taught journalism at Ohio University from 1984 to 2012, where he served as assistant director of the school and the head of its graduate program. He was chair of the History Division of AEJMC and president of AJHA. He was the 2007 recipient of the latter’s Kobre Award for “lifetime achievement in journalism history.” He authored or co-authored four history books and two historical journalism monographs.
