Abstract
Results are presented which show preferential solubility of certain liquid crystal compounds in the polymer matrix of a PDLC film. These results also indicate that the liquid crystal microdroplets contain a significant amount of uncured prepolymer. These factors cause a significant change in the refractive index of the polymer which leads to reduced on-state clarity of the PDLC film.
