Joint Activities Among Gas Producers: the Competition Man Cometh

Pages 249-285 | Published online: 08 Jun 2015

Abstract

This article analyses the effects of both EU and impending UK competition law on the prevalent practice of co-venturing and co-ownership among gas producers in the North Sea. In future, it is likely that joint selling of gas will normally be prohibited, while other activities usually undertaken jointly in the development of gas fields are more likely to be acceptable. Existing contracts generally should not be affected.
