Abstract
Groundwater, the invaluable but hidden natural resource, is of monumental importance around the world. This article reviews its importance, along with numerous threats that currently challenge it. It discusses the pollution problem in detail, making reference to the experience of Walkerton, Canada, and some other jurisdictions. It highlights the lessons from these experiences for the benefit of developing nations and other users of groundwater.
