Gabriela Alemán

Gabriela Alemán (Rio de Janeiro, 1968; Ecuadorian) is the author of nine books, including the novels Poso Wells (2007; Poso Wells, 2018) and Humo (2017; Smoke, 2024), as well as the story collections Álbum de familia (2010; Family Album, 2022) and La muerte silba un blues (2014; Death Whistles a Blues). Her nonfiction and critical essays on literature and film have appeared widely. She developed the Latin American Writers Series with Tulane University (bit.ly/3OSKZi6).

Mary Ellen Fieweger

Mary Ellen Fieweger is a writer, translator, and editor. Her essays have appeared in U.S. and British magazines and her translations have been published in Ecuador and the U.S. She lives on her coffee farm in Ecuador’s northwestern cloud forests.
