Pola Oloixarac

Pola Oloixarac (Buenos Aires, 1977) is the Barcelona-based author of the highly praised novels Las teorías salvajes (2008; Savage Theories, 2017), Las constelaciones oscuras (2015; Dark Constellations, 2019), and Mona (2019; Mona, 2021). She wrote the libretto for Hercules in Mato Grosso, an opera commissioned by Argentina’s Teatro Colón that premiered there in 2013 and a year later in New York City. She was co-founder and editor of The Buenos Aires Review, a bilingual journal on contemporary literature in the Americas. Currently a columnist for La Nación, her latest work is the book of political essays Galería de celebridades argentinas (2023), from which these excerpts are taken.

Adam Morris

Adam Morris is the author of American Messiahs: False Prophets of a Damned Nation (2019). He translates fiction from Spanish and Portuguese, including novels by Pola Oloixarac, Hilda Hilst, João Gilberto Noll, and Beatriz Bracher.
