Elizabeth Lowe

Elizabeth Lowe has translated major voices of Brazilian and Lusophone literature, including the novel The House of Passion by Nélida Piñon (forthcoming, Tagus Press). Lowe is a recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts Literary Translation Grant and Fulbright awards for research and teaching in Colombia and Brazil. She is a professor of Translation Studies at New York University. She is currently writing her memoir, titled "Dartmouth Diaries: Translating from the Portuguese" (also forthcoming from Tagus Press), from which the following excerpt is taken.
