Solid-Liquid Phase Change Heat Transfer Enhancement Analysis in Cylindrical and Spherical Walls

&
Pages 109-115 | Published online: 17 Sep 2010

This paper presents a novel insight into the mechanisms of heat transfer enhancement in cylindrical and spherical walls induced by solid-liquid phase change based on the analogy between heat conduction with an internal heat source and phase change heat transfer. Two kinds of interface heat transfer enhancement with phase change heat transfer in cylindrical and spherical walls are described. The factors influencing the degree of heat transfer enhancement on the interface are clarified and their effects are quantitatively analyzed. Both the novel insight and analysis contribute to effective application of phase change heat transfer enhancement techniques.
