ABSTRACT

The article analyses publications in the periodic press about the tribal composition, ethnographic features, traditions and other features of the Kazakh people in the “Turkestan collection.” A textual analysis of research papers on the culture of the Kazakh people of the early twentieth century is given. The historical and cultural data on the Kazakhstan and Central Asia peoples in the “Turkestan collection” are critically evaluated by comparing them with studies conducted in Soviet times. Historical information about how the revolution in Russia in February 1917 affected the lifestyle of the Turkestan peoples is attached.
