Abstract
All aspects of diabetes therapy interrelate with diet. By understanding the total diabetic regimen and how it is complicated by stresses of growth and development seen in the very young child, the nutritionist can work toward establishing good feeding practices while eliminating undue stress. Standards of glucose control, the use of lucose monitoring, and timing of meals must be adjusted as the ckild grows. Coping with hunger, food refusal, and social development require an integration of knowledge of child development and diabetes management.
