ABSTRACT
This study explored the potential of Andrographis paniculata in regulating redox imbalance using planaria as a model organism. Decapitated planaria were regenerated in water, A. paniculata extract, hydrogen peroxide, and a combination of hydrogen peroxide and A. paniculata. The growth was 26% higher, locomotion 15% higher, and protein 35% higher in A. paniculata group. The stressed group had 33% higher growth, 17% higher locomotion, and 36% higher protein when treated with A. paniculata. In conclusion, A. paniculata accelerated the regeneration and minimized the stress induced by hydrogen peroxide and hence can be a promising option for the prevention of neurodegenerative diseases.
