ABSTRACT
The nematic to isotropic phase transition in the mixtures of nematic liquid crystal and quantum dots nanoparticles has been studied. Flory Huggins theory of isotropic mixing and Landau-de Gennes theory have been used to study the nematic to isotropic phase transition. The effects of quantum dots nanoparticles on the nematic order parameter, transition temperature, and splay elastic constant have been discussed. The decrease of nematic order parameter, transition temperature, and splay elastic constant with the increase in volume fraction of quantum dots nanoparticles has been observed.
