ABSTRACT
Matrix solid-phase dispersion (MSPD) has been recognized as an effective one-step sample preparation method for the extraction of semi-solid, and solid samples. MSPD has been applied for environmental, food, and biological samples. Its simplicity, adaptability, speed, robustness, and straightforwardness have all been significantly improved by numerous advancements since its introduction. Recently, MSPD has continued to progress with the introduction of newly generated and modified sorbents and solvents to the procedure, which has considerably expedited the miniaturization process. In certain cases, these enhanced properties have also promoted the combination of MSPD with other improved extraction approaches, leading to quicker, greener, and less designing procedures. The review provides an update on MSPD’s progress from 2019 to June 2022. The review emphasizes the latest advances in MSPD sorbent, solvents, and miniaturization through illustrative application studies including the identification of organic contaminants in food and environmental samples.
