Jayanthan Sriram

Jayanthan Sriram is a member of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation and PhD working on olfaction at Concordia University. Interweaving Gernot Boehme’s concepts of atmosphere and aesthetic labor with Achille Mbembe’s necropolitics, Jayanthan is proposing a new aisthethics – a portmanteau of aisthesis and ethics – centering on ephemeral sensations such as sound and olfaction. His research focuses on the bodily dimensions of consumption, discrimination, and othering.
