A Road Story

Abstract

While driving home from her unsatisfying part-time job, Sara, a young, struggling single parent, sees a well-dressed elderly woman named Greta stranded on the roadside seeking a lift while her husband Hans, who has Alzheimer’s, sits on a bus bench. Sara feels compelled to pick them up because Greta’s outfit reminds her of a dream she once had.

Carole Standish Mora

Carole Standish Mora holds a PhD in Depth Psychology (Jungian and Archetypal Studies) and an MFA in Creative Writing (poetry/fiction). She has published her writing in Quadrant: The Journal of the C.G. Jung Foundation for Analytical Psychology, Grief Narratives, Indelible Literary Journal, The Seventh Quarry, Flint Hills Review, Between Literary Journal, Red River Review, Moronic Ox Literary & Cultural Journal, The Caterpillar Chronicles, Prism Review, and Two Hawks Quarterly. In addition to creative writing, she is an independent researcher and scholar, part-time adjunct writing instructor, private writing tutor, and practicing visual artist living in Santa Monica, CA.
