ABSTRACT

N,N-dimethyltryptamine (DMT) is a psychedelic substance produced within various Acacia species; however, the range of species that contain it and the quantity of the compound found within each species is relatively unknown. This work focused on the identification of DMT in 104 plant samples, representing 79 Acacia species, utilizing a reverse phase liquid chromatographic separation prior to mass spectral characterization with a robust Q-TOF-MS method. The findings of this work determined 51 DMT-containing species, 41 of which were previously unknown to contain the psychedelic.
