Outstanding editors

We’re now coming to the end of the year, and on behalf of the editorial team, I would like to thank the following Editors for their outstanding and continued support to the 2020 Archives of Phytopathology and Plant Protection journal. The quality of the Journal depends on dedicated Editors such as these and I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation for them accepting this extra task in their already very busy schedules and their conscientiousness in meeting demanding timelines.

Their expertise and knowledge are accordingly recognized and valued and looking forward to use their expertise in coming years toward journal success.

Dr. Srdjan Acimovic is a plant pathologist at Cornell University in the Section of Plant Pathology and Plant-Microbe Biology. He earned his doctorate in Plant Pathology from Michigan State University and his MS in Phytopathology at the University of Novi Sad in Serbia where he was a Teaching and Research Assistant of Phytopathology Curriculum and a faculty member in the Department of Plant and Environmental Protection. Currently, he conducts research on management of tree diseases, plant pathogen identification, characterization, biology and epidemiology, as well as field evaluation of pesticides and plant resistance activators for their control. He aims to elucidate survival, population dynamics and stress of fire blight bacterium Erwinia amylovora, biology, genomics and epidemiology of Colletotrichum spp. causing apple bitter rot, and improve understanding of plant defense responses to E. amylovora and fungus Diplocarpon coronariae under field and lab conditions. His goal is to utilize this knowledge to develop new or improve existing strategies for tree disease management especially apple and pear. Dr. Acimovic published 45 research and 18 extension articles, gave 24 invited and 90 extension presentations, and from 2015 serves as an Associate Editor of Archives of Phytopathology and Plant Protection.

Dr. Youssef Khamis is an Associate Professor of Plant Pathology, Plant Pathology Research Institute, Agricultural Research Center (ARC), Egypt. He obtained his B.Sc. in 2002 of Agriculture Sciences, Plant Pathology at Faculty of Agriculture, Assiut University, Egypt. In 2007, he obtained his M.Sc. in Integrated Pest Management of Mediterranean Fruit Tree Crops at CIHEAM-MAIB, Italy. In 2011, he got his PhD in Plant Protection Curriculum: Integrated Crop Protection from Bari University Aldo Moro, Italy. Also, he had a Postdoc position at Department of Agronomy, Londrina State University in Brazil. He published many research articles in peer reviewed in highly impactful scientific journals in the field of phytopathology. During 2020 he reviewed over 17 papers and handled 13 assignments for Archives of Phytopathology and Plant Protection. He has membership and contributes to several professional societies and editorial board member for several international journals such as Journal of Plant Diseases and Protection (JPDP), Journal of Plant Pathology (JPP) and Folia Horticulturae (FH).

Prof. Dr. Nabil El-Wakeil Professor of biological Control of insect pests, Department of Pests & Plant Protection, National Research Centre, Egypt. He is working currently on a research project in Martin Luther University- Halle, Germany cooperating with a private company for insect management. He obtained his M.Sc. at Cairo University, Egypt and Ph.D. degree at Georg August University, Germany. He has thirty years of experience and is a specialist in plant protection, biological control and biodiversity, and has significant research experience in Entomology. His major focus is on studying mass rearing and application of natural enemies either parasitoids or predators and preserving natural enemies for optimizing and maximizing the role of biological control in IPM programs. He is an editorial board member and reviewer of several National and International Agricultural and Entomological journals. He has edited two books and contributed to 10 books as well as published more than 50 publications. He has attended and organized more than 40 conferences and workshops.
