Welcome to third and final issue of Studies in Australasian Cinema for 2023.

In this collection we begin with Phoebe Macrossan’s work on the forgotten history of the Australian musical, followed by Ian Huffer and Yuan Gong’s study of the reception of Chinese blockbusters in New Zealand, and finally Martin Holz’s return to the Mad Max films and their relationship to the Western genre.

A big thank you to all the authors, guest-editors, board, referees, readers, production team and ongoing supporters who have made this another strong year for the journal.
