ABSTRACT

Nanosized calcium zirconate (CaZrO3) was synthesized from its oxalate precursor, calcium zirconyl oxalate (CZO). Thermogravimetry, differential thermal analysis, and X-ray diffraction techniques were used to characterize the precursor and optimize the processing conditions. Thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis study shows that CZO precursor decomposes through three steps gives final product CaZrO3 above 700°C. XRD study shows that pure CaZrO3 phase is formed at 800°C. Particle size of CaZrO3 powder was measured using transmission electron microscope and distribution of particles was studied using particle size analyzer. The band gap and dielectric constant of the CaZrO3 were calculated.
